Here’s a different experience.  Have you ever seen the gold vault at the Federal Reserve Bank in New  York City? WOWOWOW. Now that’s a sight for sore eyes. After all, how many people have actually seen blocks of gold?

The Federal Reserve Bank is located at 33 Liberty Street in Lower Manhattan. The tour involves a brief overview of the Federal Reserve System, a short video about the cash processing facility, guided tour of the gold vault and admission to the Bank’s museum. The tour is not very long but it will leave a lasting impression.

Though it is a first come, first served basis, you have to make reservations to go on the tour. Bank is open weekdays only except bank holidays. Tours are 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm. Admission is free. Confirmation email or admission ticket must be presented before the tour.

By the way, don’t believe the hype you see in the movies about people trying to rob the reserve bank. I’ve taken this tour and believe me, you will not get out of there once that vault door slams shut until someone comes to get you!!!
